Pleated skirts…keeping it semi casual!

FashionMy Style

IMG_5892

Pleated skirts are everywhere….similar to the tulle skirt…although not as fuller a skirt.

I love the pleated skirt, I was afraid of it at first as I always thought it would make my hips look larger than they were, but the way they have designed them with more of a floatier feel in the material, tends to sit better on my shape.

IMG_5853

The skirt is penneys and sits lovely, it feels so comfortable too, Asos are currently during a similar one here

IMG_5908

In fact the whole outfit is penneys apart from the headband which is new look and heels as before from Littlewoods for €15 here, the jumper is current stock and can be worn larger or neater which I went for, as my skirt was quiet floaty.

IMG_5859

As I said I paired it with nude heels but for an even more casual look you could pair it with white trainers and it would still look good

How to style a tulle skirt: Part 2

FashionMy Style

IMG_5780

Following up from my previous post on Tulle skirts, here’s another option and how I style mine! This is most definitely a more dressier take!

A tulle skirt always needs a little bit of sparkle to dress it up…now as you well know I’m guilty of this!! (The tulle skirt is as before from @Hazel Comyn designs)

My wardrobe would make a magpie proud…its insane, my husband is bewildered with the amount of loose sequins he finds on his clothes etc! But who can resist?

IMG_5791

This sequin piece is a cape that I picked up months back on Asos. I had no idea where I needed it for but I knew I loved it and had to have it! Low and behold it goes fabulously with a lot of pieces in the wardrobe. For €45 it was a bargain and you’ll find  a few similar ones here

IMG_5788

This is such a fun outfit, the plain white top underneath is penneys picked it up for €5 before summer, and it goes perfectly with the cape. Because there is so much detail in the cape you need to keep everything underneath plain and simple.

IMG_5749

The shoes are the same as the previous post and are an old pair from new look, but similar here

Again hope you like this look

How to dress a tulle skirt!

FashionMy Style

IMG_5731

It was all the rage last year and still sticking around this year but perhaps in darker colours…none the less the tulle skirt is here to stay!

I love a tulle skirt, always have a princess moment when I throw one on!! Notions!!! haha This beauty is from Hazel Comyn design. Hazel an Irish designer has amazing pieces and will be featuring her new collection at Cork Fashion week in the next few weeks. Find more beautiful pieces here

They are so feminine and can be worn anyway and still look fabulous. In this post and the next, I’ll share how I dress mine!!

IMG_5751

I love to throw sweatshirts or jumpers over them. And this is one of my favourite ways to wear them. Because a tulle is so dressy its nice to throw something casual on with them (If you don’t want to go all out!!). The beauty about Hazels tulle skirts is you can turn them inside out and wear it as a satin skirt, so its like getting two skirts for one!! Amazing!

IMG_5760

I paired it with this Penneys boat neck fine knit jumper, its just so comfy, goes nicely with the skirt as its not too fussy, just nice and plain. The earrings are parfois for €7.99. Hair was by the fabulous Aisling Kelleher who is a Freelance Bridal & Event hair specialist, I mean she literally done this upstyle in 2 mins no joke!! Shes amazing…find Aisling’s details here

IMG_5749

The shoes are old from New Look (Bit dressy for this outfit but I would also pair flats or white sneakers with this look) Similar heels here

IMG_5746

Pics are by Emer @Irishfashaholic, I can’t tell you enough how much fun we have during these days shooting, Emer has an amazing talent behind the lens!

Hope you guys like the look!

This season its all about the detail, inspiration for designers has been taken from the street, sport, film, fantasy, fairytale, modern art and miltary hence the highstreet has us spoilt for choice!

Oriental Print!

Take inspiration from the far east and add a touch of Orient to your wardrobe. Think floral, silken fabrics, and bright prints. There is plenty of this trend on the highstreet so its time to embrace this beautiful decadent trend.

Mad Metal!!

This trend is taking the fashion industry by storm, from footwear, to dresses. Wearing this metallic can be tricky so keep accessories to a minimum and if your going with metallic footwear keep the remaining outfit simple and casual. Think “sci fi fi”looks when it comes to this trend…not for the faint hearted!

Gothic Glam/Femme Fatale!

Gothic glam or the dark femme fatale is dominating the trends for Autumn/Winter. Floaty layers of sheer blacks, Glam goth with lace edgings and layers. Its about the sheer and lace and if you are to invest in one thing make it a sheer/lace top/blouse that can be worn with both denim and evening wear. With this trend keep the neckline high in tops and dresses and not only can you go dark black, try oxblood and midnight blues.

Bomber jackets are having their moment this year and are continuing to dominate the Autumn/Winter. The jacket doesn’t have to be a one hit wonder either, it can be worn with anything…jeans, tulle skirts, a mini dress with thigh high boots(which are also on trend for this season!) It doesn’t have to be a plain bomber either although the neutral colour palette will allow you wear it with anything. I’m particularly loving the embellished Bomber at the moment but then I am a bit of a magpie!

At the other extreme is the novelty bags with their quirky stamps and stars!

My style …Two toned senorita!

My Style

IMG_5166

I am loving the bare shoulders look (cut out shoulders should I say) at the moment, its perfect for hot weather or a night out. I was heading on holidays mid July and had a mad dash to get a few bits for holiday nights out…I spotted this dress on a rail in Zara. I knew before I ever tried it on that it was going into my wardrobe. I had so much fun shooting this with Emer @Irishfashaholic shes such a talented photograher.

IMG_5172

This dress has an amazing top part with its cut out shoulders, thats what sold it for me. It is so comfy yet sexy if that makes sense? And the fit is great and suits my shape.

IMG_5188

A better look at the top part

IMG_5163

It is a fitted dress that’s for sure, when you are pulling it over your head you’ll notice this. As its two tone, its complimentary due to the cut and the eye is drawn up to the top part of the dress. It doesnt stick in all the wrong places.  I paired it with my new look tan suede heels again you’ll find them here

IMG_5195

I wore this dress on holidays and each time I paired it with these @Alex&Ani bracelets. Now who doesn’t love these? I adore the messages and meanings behind these bracelets

IMG_5179

And in case your wondering girls, this little dress was a steal at €29.95. It is in stock in some Zara stores unfortunately it is not online, even when I wanted to order it online after seeing it initially I couldn’t find it so have a look in you local stores. But there is similar dresses to this (just different colours)here and here

Hope you enjoyed this post

Until next time

Vintage Series….Lovely Sequins

Fashion and Beauty BlogMy Style

Rest assured we all remember the 80’s era, the dynasty, dallas episodes with the shoulder pads and sequins. Love it or loathe it they knew how to make a beautiful piece without half the beading leaving a trial on the floor behind you.

As I mentioned I had such fun pottering in @Missdaisyblue and make no mistake, sequins are always part of the vintage collection. I had so much fun upstyling some vintage sequin tops for this collaboration with Miss Daisy blue and shooting with Emer from @Irishfashaholic. I can honestly say girls this is definitely a look you’d wear today!!

IMG_5294 (1)

For this look I paired this immaculate mint green vintage top with my white jeans (which are old from Zara but similar here for €29.95) And tan suede new look heels, for €39.99 available here.

IMG_5303

A close up of the Top bearing in mind girls this is a vintage piece, it is so easy to mistake this as a current piece in a boutique. Like I mentioned the quality is superb and the sequins all intact.  Breda at Miss Daisy blue has immaculate pieces like this one sourced from the US and Europe. The top is priced under €70 which is unbelievable considering some of the current pieces you’d buy at a more expensive price. Trust me I am guilty of these purchases, but none are as of good a quality as this piece.

IMG_5300

The top felt so comfortable and sat beautifully, I love the scallop hem and the colour is divine!

IMG_5301

I had these earrings sitting in my drawing since ages in fact I’m ashamed to say over a year, I picked them up from Ruby Rouge in Wexford as they stock great accessories, this pair worked perfectly with this outfit. But again its so easy to upstyle this vintage top.

IMG_5292

Even though I paired this top with a simple pair of white jeans it could be upstyled with anything, Black trousers, blue jeans, a skirt, mini or midi, it would be particularly pretty with a tulle skirt.

It goes to show you that just because its vintage doesn’t mean it cant be worn in the current season…a vintage piece can be worn in any era!

Hope you like the look and I’ll be back with more vintage pieces so stay tuned

Until then

Pam xx
