Pleated skirts…keeping it semi casual!

FashionMy Style

IMG_5892

Pleated skirts are everywhere….similar to the tulle skirt…although not as fuller a skirt.

I love the pleated skirt, I was afraid of it at first as I always thought it would make my hips look larger than they were, but the way they have designed them with more of a floatier feel in the material, tends to sit better on my shape.

IMG_5853

The skirt is penneys and sits lovely, it feels so comfortable too, Asos are currently during a similar one here

IMG_5908

In fact the whole outfit is penneys apart from the headband which is new look and heels as before from Littlewoods for €15 here, the jumper is current stock and can be worn larger or neater which I went for, as my skirt was quiet floaty.

IMG_5859

As I said I paired it with nude heels but for an even more casual look you could pair it with white trainers and it would still look good

How to style a tulle skirt: Part 2

FashionMy Style

IMG_5780

Following up from my previous post on Tulle skirts, here’s another option and how I style mine! This is most definitely a more dressier take!

A tulle skirt always needs a little bit of sparkle to dress it up…now as you well know I’m guilty of this!! (The tulle skirt is as before from @Hazel Comyn designs)

My wardrobe would make a magpie proud…its insane, my husband is bewildered with the amount of loose sequins he finds on his clothes etc! But who can resist?

IMG_5791

This sequin piece is a cape that I picked up months back on Asos. I had no idea where I needed it for but I knew I loved it and had to have it! Low and behold it goes fabulously with a lot of pieces in the wardrobe. For €45 it was a bargain and you’ll find  a few similar ones here

IMG_5788

This is such a fun outfit, the plain white top underneath is penneys picked it up for €5 before summer, and it goes perfectly with the cape. Because there is so much detail in the cape you need to keep everything underneath plain and simple.

IMG_5749

The shoes are the same as the previous post and are an old pair from new look, but similar here

Again hope you like this look

How to dress a tulle skirt!

FashionMy Style

IMG_5731

It was all the rage last year and still sticking around this year but perhaps in darker colours…none the less the tulle skirt is here to stay!

I love a tulle skirt, always have a princess moment when I throw one on!! Notions!!! haha This beauty is from Hazel Comyn design. Hazel an Irish designer has amazing pieces and will be featuring her new collection at Cork Fashion week in the next few weeks. Find more beautiful pieces here

They are so feminine and can be worn anyway and still look fabulous. In this post and the next, I’ll share how I dress mine!!

IMG_5751

I love to throw sweatshirts or jumpers over them. And this is one of my favourite ways to wear them. Because a tulle is so dressy its nice to throw something casual on with them (If you don’t want to go all out!!). The beauty about Hazels tulle skirts is you can turn them inside out and wear it as a satin skirt, so its like getting two skirts for one!! Amazing!

IMG_5760

I paired it with this Penneys boat neck fine knit jumper, its just so comfy, goes nicely with the skirt as its not too fussy, just nice and plain. The earrings are parfois for €7.99. Hair was by the fabulous Aisling Kelleher who is a Freelance Bridal & Event hair specialist, I mean she literally done this upstyle in 2 mins no joke!! Shes amazing…find Aisling’s details here

IMG_5749

The shoes are old from New Look (Bit dressy for this outfit but I would also pair flats or white sneakers with this look) Similar heels here

Casual Series: Jeans Part 2

FashionMy Style

What a day guys, its been 90..none the less I said I’d follow up on this casual series, so here it is another casual look from my wardrobe

IMG_5712

So this is me casually lingering around pink walls!! Ha kidding..(Pic Emer @Irishfashaholic)…the whole outfit is Penneys best!!

From Shoes to Sweatshirt. I love this look as its so simple and easy to wear, great for running after my 2 year old rugrat, and flying around all day. The jumper I have paired with skirts and even a tulle for a nighttime look (Stay tuned for that one!)

IMG_5722

The jeans again are from Penneys (Primark) and are called “Boyfriend jeans”. Although in my opinion they are more fitted. They cost €15.

 IMG_5720

The jumper has a slashed neck which sits low on the shoulder, its so comfortable, its also slightly fitted on the bottom not giving it too slouchy a look!

rsz_img_5722 (2)

The heels again are Penneys (Primark) and are €11.

IMG_5710

Overall its a nice casual look for a lazy relaxing day, and grey is so big this season!

Hope you liked it

Until next time

Vintage series …Vintage Dresses Part 2

FashionMy Style

At this stage guys, you will be aware of my collaboration with Miss Daisy blue here in Cork. It was so much fun playing dress up and the choice was phenomenal especially when it came to dresses. I have come to the realization that  if I had to go back in time, the 1950 era would have suited me perfectly. An hourglass figure dominated the look of the 1950s. With cinched-in waistlines and accentuated hips and busts, the style was a decidedly mature one. And this below epitomes this look and was one of the reasons I was drawn to it.

IMG_5358

With its tight cinched waist, billowing skirt, and pronounced bust line , it oozes the early 1950’s” wasp waist” silhouette.

IMG_5349

I loved the fullness of this skirt and there appears to be a built in petticoat underneath which wouldn’t have been uncommon in this era. Normally  the skirt could be worn with a petticoat underneath to give it added fullness or with a thin slip for easier movement. It also has layers of tulle and a satin fabric on the waist of the dress. It is simply divine!

IMG_5362

The detail on the back has been given as much attention as the front. I loved the ladylike bow that is used to fastening the back of the dress. How amazing is the quality of this dress given that it is vintage?

IMG_5382

The length of this dress was so apt for 1950’s as back then after the war ended they shortened the length a little from ankle to mid length or just below the knee. This is still very popular today in 2016 and this dress would be perfect for a wedding, races or even for a bride to be, if she wanted something a little different. I love the scooped neckline on this dress & with the draped fabric it oozes elegance. The pale pink pastel colour is beautiful and emphasizes the sophistication of the dress.

IMG_5399 (1)

I paired this vintage beauty with pom pom heels I picked up from River Island in the sale for €42 similar colour here

The dress is from Miss Daisy blue and all their details are available here it was roughly €270 & worth every penny!

All pics are by the amazingly talented Emer @Irishfashaholic, it was a super day and I felt like a princess in this dress

IMG_5355 (2)

Hope you enjoyed this look girls and please go check out Miss Daisy blue, I guarantee you’ll find some iconic pieces.

Until next time

My style: Stripes are alright! Keep it simple!

My Style

Hey my lovelies,

Yet another post on my style, my way..I have this secret obsession with stripes!!

I can never get enough of them, but you know what? they are a must have for any wardrobe. Stripes in any type top or jumper are such a classic piece and never date! They look great with blazers, coats or paired with jeans. And their biggest advantage is they are so practical!

This one above, I had been lusting over for an age, and when in +Athlone Towncentre Shopping Centre , one day with my sister I spotted it back in stock. Its from Zara for €29.95, available here, I love the material, its a fine knit with a stretch in it and its so comfy.

The thing about this sweater that appealed to me most is the high neck on it. I’m not a huge fan of polo necks maybe because I don’t have a long neck, so this type of style suits me better!

I know its coming into the Summer so the likelihood of getting lots of wear out of it in the next few months is slim, although it is Ireland and the Irish weather can be unpredictable. One things for sure, it will be pulled out of the wardrobe for autumn.

The sunglasses are Guess, that I picked up in +TK Maxx, I swear by it girls, TK Maxx has a great selection of sunnies for fabulous prices, you just need to be quick! Those pair were €39.99!

A better look at the sweater, the back of it dips a little more in length than the front, which is a style I’m loving.

I paired the sweater with leather pants, and these ones I picked up in River Island a while back for €24 (I know!!) still some in stock but very little sizes (here) . If you are looking for a nice Leather pair then I would recommend the Freddy Leather pants (they are amazing and currently on my wishlist!)  available here.

The bag, no words needed really..this was bought as a gift from my brother on his travels a few years ago, he did good really didnt he? Its divine and one of my most coveted things in the wardrobe!

I kept the whole look casual by adding my adidas superstars, I love these, so comfy and great for casual wear…mind you not quiet sure how I kept them so white in this pic! You can find them here

I also gave this outfit a run for its money over in Paris too and was super for strolling around the pretty Parisian streets, casual yet stylish.

Hope you enjoyed this post

Until next time
