Back to school back to blogging

Fashion and Beauty BlogMy Style

So the little ones are gone back to school…and its back to blogging with a bang……

Its always good to take time off from blogging, I know it may seem likes its pretty easy this blogging lark but to be honest it can take over, its a constant 24/7 if you allow it and it can be demanding..its hard to switch off and not reply instantly to the private messages you can get at any hour for people looking for advice or information. But I love what I do and I love helping people who have a fashion question or problem.

The reason I set up the blog was because I love fashion and I love helping those who find it frustrating or just struggle putting things together. Now and then its demanding so in the summer months I vowed to take a step back ..and take time off, time off to spend quality time with my gorgeous girls and family.

And what a summer we had, we traveled for 4 weeks across the states an experience I hope my girls will never forget. We spend quality time with my fabulous sister Jill and her beautiful kids…the remainder of the summer was spent by the Irish coast by the beach making memories!

It was the break I needed to get away from the world of social media and all that goes with it! So back and refreshed and ready to tackle the seasons ahead 🙂

So expect lots of fashion post in the next few months

Love

Vintage or is it?

FashionMy Style

Vintage or is it? Yes as you are aware I am a lover of vintage stores and I have found some unbelievable pieces in some gorgeous vintage boutiques here in Cork.

Do you ever get a moment when you try a piece on and you instantly fall in love!! I actually did a tiny little dance in the boutique when trying this beauty. Its so different and unique and totally me!!

I spotted this blouse in Eva May Vintage one day and after trying it on knew I had to have it…it was a little bit unique and reminded me of an Irish Designers piece.

When I bought the top and brought it home I kept thinking how it reminded me on one of my favourite Irish Designers Catriona Hanley. I remembered I admired and lusted over one of her pieces a year ago…obviously lusting was all I could do as I couldn’t afford the price tag at the time..but when  I scrolled through her facebook page low and behold I think by visiting one of my favourite vintage stores I might have accidentally nabbed that top that I had been lusting after, but for a fraction of the price at €69 …The resemblance is uncanny don’t believe me well check this pick out here

I love the detail in this piece, its such a stunning top. The layering of tulle is so pretty and the workmanship that went into it is unreal.

I paired this top with my leather Freddy jeans and nude heels as I wanted the blouse to stand out!! The freddy leathers you will find here

How amazing is the detail on the back too!! It has pearls sown onto button poppers and the detailing is out of this world.

When I asked the lovely Linda from Eva May where she bought the piece she told me she found it in a vintage boutique in Paris…so ladies it goes to show it pays to shop in Vintage stores ..I promise you, you’ll never know what you might find

A statement Coat

FashionMy Style

A statement coat is a key piece for any wardrobe at any age. It can be thrown over anything and look amazing. You could have your pj top on underneath and no one would know, a beautiful coat can hide anything underneath!!

I’m lucky I have quiet a few nice ones and they always come in handy when I’m not really feeling it with an outfit. Or I want to give an outfit that finishing touch before heading out the door. A statement coat will last forever too and always get noticed!! I don’t know how many times I’ve asked some of the girls at the school gates where they got their fabulous coats!! And you know what…. a statement coat is great to have if you are pregnant too!

The thing is you will get so much wear out of a good coat and our lovely Irish weather will make sure of it 🙂 Now I know its sunny in these pics but by god was it freezing and I was ever so glad we were shooting a coat!!

This Statement Coat is a cape and I absolutely love it…it was a complete surprise from my hubbie at christmas..now I badgered him into getting me a completely different coat from Zara (another one I love) because I had no idea he had already bought me this coat. Poor man heart broken with me!! The Cape is Jovanna London but unfortunately its sold out. But here are some beautiful coats that will outlast your wardrobe ! Try Here, here here, & here,

The blouse is a vintage blouse I picked up at EvaMayVintage who has amazing pieces so check her out as you will get one off beauties at her boutique. There are similar blouses here here, and here. The leather pants are Freddy leathers as before.

And the bag I picked up on depop which is a great app if you don’t have it..you can get some great bits on it.

Now I know Summer is coming but in my opinion, its always important to have a good quality tailored coat hanging in the wardrobe!

Vintage Series ..the final look!

FashionFashion and Beauty Blog

IMG_5305

Aw its the final look of the Vintage series. I absolutely adored this collaboration with @MissDaisyblue and Emer @Irishfashaholic. It was so much fun and I adore vintage clothes. A beautiful piece is a beautiful piece it doesn’t matter what era its from. Beauty never fades!

IMG_5319

This top is divine and far far prettier in real life. The material (although you can’t see it) is almost sheer and see through and so delicate against my skin. I loved the frilling on the sleeves and necklace. Such a feminine look.

IMG_5322

I paired this vintage top from Miss Daisy blue with white jeans and nude heels. The jeans are River Island and you’ll find it here

IMG_5315

Vintage is so easy to upstyle girls and I hope after featuring this vintage series from Miss Daisy blue I have convinced you that its not only unique to wear vintage not to mention fashionable but very easy to wear in the current season.

Hope you enjoyed these post again thank you to Emer Irish Fashaholic and Breda Miss Daisy Blue. Go visit their store even if its just to play dress up you won’t be disappointed.

Until next time

Vintage Series…Sequins Jackets

FashionMy Style

Still sticking with sequins, what can I say I am a magpie when it comes to anything sparkly, always a girlie girl I guess!

IMG_5326

Another piece which caught my eye in Miss Daisy Blue, the sequin jacket…now if that doesn’t scream vintage I don’t know what does! This one is absolutely stunning, the intricate detailing on this jacket is amazing and not a loose or missing bead in sight…I’ll say it again, they really don’t make clothes like they used to years ago!

IMG_5333

I love this look and its something i’d wear for a night out with my girls! It was so easy to upstyle this. I paired it with my leather trousers from River Island (Picked up earlier this year) but they have similar in stock for €55 here and a penneys camisole I picked up for €4.99 about a month ago!

IMG_5346

Can we please take a minute to appreciate the workmanship on the back of this jacket, the detailing of the beading is incredible.

IMG_5329

The front too has amazing detail and the built in shoulder pads actually add to it. Its definitely my favourite piece from Miss Daisy blue. I think it was Emer’s favourite piece too (Emer from @Irishfashaholic shot all the pics for this look)

Again girls you could pair this with a skirt or white jeans and it would still look amazing.

IMG_5343

Who said vintage cant be upstyled and look current, all you need is to play dress up a little 🙂

Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Until next time

Vintage series …Vintage Dresses Part 2

FashionMy Style

At this stage guys, you will be aware of my collaboration with Miss Daisy blue here in Cork. It was so much fun playing dress up and the choice was phenomenal especially when it came to dresses. I have come to the realization that  if I had to go back in time, the 1950 era would have suited me perfectly. An hourglass figure dominated the look of the 1950s. With cinched-in waistlines and accentuated hips and busts, the style was a decidedly mature one. And this below epitomes this look and was one of the reasons I was drawn to it.

IMG_5358

With its tight cinched waist, billowing skirt, and pronounced bust line , it oozes the early 1950’s” wasp waist” silhouette.

IMG_5349

I loved the fullness of this skirt and there appears to be a built in petticoat underneath which wouldn’t have been uncommon in this era. Normally  the skirt could be worn with a petticoat underneath to give it added fullness or with a thin slip for easier movement. It also has layers of tulle and a satin fabric on the waist of the dress. It is simply divine!

IMG_5362

The detail on the back has been given as much attention as the front. I loved the ladylike bow that is used to fastening the back of the dress. How amazing is the quality of this dress given that it is vintage?

IMG_5382

The length of this dress was so apt for 1950’s as back then after the war ended they shortened the length a little from ankle to mid length or just below the knee. This is still very popular today in 2016 and this dress would be perfect for a wedding, races or even for a bride to be, if she wanted something a little different. I love the scooped neckline on this dress & with the draped fabric it oozes elegance. The pale pink pastel colour is beautiful and emphasizes the sophistication of the dress.

IMG_5399 (1)

I paired this vintage beauty with pom pom heels I picked up from River Island in the sale for €42 similar colour here

The dress is from Miss Daisy blue and all their details are available here it was roughly €270 & worth every penny!

All pics are by the amazingly talented Emer @Irishfashaholic, it was a super day and I felt like a princess in this dress

Hope you enjoyed this look girls and please go check out Miss Daisy blue, I guarantee you’ll find some iconic pieces.

Until next time

Miss Daisy Blue. Vintage at its best!

FashionFashion and Beauty Blog

20160716_150538_resized   20160716_150605_resized 20160716_150527_resized_1

So last weekend I had the pleasure of collaborating with Miss Daisy blue (all thanks to Emer @Irishfashaholic)

I have always loved potttering around this boutique as its the most unique quirky vintage shop I have seen.

20160716_155221_resized  20160716_155230_resized

And Breda and all the ladies are so lovely and very helpful. While playing dress up I chatted to Breda about where she sourced her clothing. She flies to Europe and the states to find amazing pieces and she has a fabulous eye!! Its like a treasure haven for vintage lovers, but also the perfect place to find a unique piece to upstyle with something current in your wardrobe.

In the next few days I will be posting some beautiful pieces I styled and cant wait to show you guys. Trust me if you are not a vintage lover I will convert you!!!

In the meantime have a look at the beautiful interior of Miss Daisy blue it is amazing and the collections in store are beautiful, there is something for everyone. Beautiful high quality sequin tops, delicate laces, loud floral 60s shirts, dresses and beautiful evening gowns.

20160716_155144_resized_1  20160716_150617_resized

While pottering around and playing dress up I came to the realisation that the 1950’s clothing are my favourite, especially the dresses, I also mourned how we don’t manufacture clothing as well as they used to in years gone by. The detailing and the tailoring in vintage clothes are amazing!! No sequins or beads popping off as you try on the garments, the quality is of the highest standard, and the boning in some of the dresses are beautiful and incredibly flattering.

20160716_150504_resized_2  20160716_150514_resized_2  20160716_155155_resized_1

I was wishing I had hundreds of events to go to, as there was so much beautiful stock in Breda’s store, at one stage a lovely young girl popped in with her mum to find her debs dress, it was amazing and I wished I had thought of that when my debs were on!!

20160716_150522_resized 20160716_150556_resized 20160716_153807_resized_1

And if I havent convinced you that this is one of the best vintage shops in Ireland, their award for best vintage store from Xpose Frockadvisor is proof!! And well and truly deserved.

20160716_155203_resized_1

So ladies if you are down south and in Cork do pop in and visit it as its such a little gem….cant wait to show you how I upstyled some of their amazing pieces

Until next time
